
Tips for writing good resume
The Basic essentials while making your resume.
1. Try to make resume which directly relates to current job requirements.
2. Make sure qualifications, job skills and experiences are included in the resume.
3. Your resume should directly relate your work experience with the job requirement.
Basic C.V. requirements
1. Objective-Make a objective section showing your willingness to join the organization for the reason.
2. Skills-All jobs require skills. You may not have all the skills company is looking for but you must include all the required skills as much as possible. You must use the same description as desired by the company.
3. Experience-Your work experience should highlight your skills as what you used in the previous employment.
4. Achievements-Your past achievements are truly going to add the value to your C.V. Stress that you will be of value to your employer as in the past.
5. Qualifications-Your qualifications details should be precise. It should be enough to show that you match their requirement and qualified for the job.
6. Write the most important information first . This is valid for overall resume as well as to the individual sections.
7. Select write size & font of the text. The size of the text should be around 11-12 and Arial is a good choice. Never use capital letters all over the place.
8. Don’t send same resume to different employer. The common mistake people do of sending their standard to all the jobs they find. Tailor your resume for each job. Preferably do the same with the covering also.
9. Don’t send photos. Avoid sending photo along with the resume unless it is specifically asked or your are applying for a job where appearance and look is important.
10. Short Resume. Preferably your resume should not be of more than one page.
11. Use of action verbs but no pronouns. Action verbs are basically those which get attention more easily and clearly communicates what are your experiences and achievements e.g., managed, coached, supervised, handled and planned etc. but pronouns like ’I’ and ‘me’ should not be in the resume.
12. Don’t write hobbies and interest. Never include hobbies and interest unless its relevant to the job you are applying.
13. Use of Mr and Ms.If your name is common to both the genders then only its advisable to prefix Mr or Ms to your name.
14.E mail formatting. Your resume should have text version that does not look disfigured in the e-mail. You can check by sending it to your friend.
15. Spacing and Paper. There should be enough spacing and paper should be white. Never use colored or glossy paper for resume.
Once you have completed your resume, review it to check the spellings and ask your friend to review the grammar
